Please join the Sister Cities International California Youth Leadership Summit, an online event to help promote peace and cooperation amongst youth, that will be streamed on Sunday, February 7, 2021 from 7:00 am to 10:00 am (Japan time). The California Youth Leadership Summit is led by youth for youth. The theme of the event is Peace, Kindness and Cooperation. Panelists will include high school and college students participating from the State of California, as well as from countries where California’s 356 sister cities around the world are located, including Japan.

The theme of the event is Peace, Kindness and Cooperation and all of the topics are decided by youth. These topics include: - world peace and cooperation - racial quality and gender equity - climate change and sustainability - coping with the pandemic Guest moderators include former NFL Quarterback / ESPN College Football Analyst Mark Sanchez and Guinness World Record Holder Marin Minamiya, who is the youngest to climb the highest peak on all seven continents and reached the North and South Poles. The California Youth Leadership Summit is hosted by the Sister Cities International Southern California Chapter and is organized by the Sister Cities International Southern and Northern California Chapters.

Sister Cities International was founded in 1956 by President Dwight Eisenhower for the purpose of bringing about peace throughout the world through citizen diplomacy. Today, this network unites tens of thousands of citizen diplomats and volunteers in 500 member communities with over 1,800 sister city partnerships in 138 countries on six continents. California has more sister city organizations than any other state in the U.S.: 82 California cities have 356 partnerships with cities overseas in 70 countries.
