Manzai has been a popular form of entertainment amongst Japanese people for many years, and has even attracted an international audience as more Manzai performances are available in English and other languages. Moreover, it has also been shown to be a useful tool for language teaching and learning. The first half of this workshop will consist of a lecture and a demonstration on the making of Manzai and its applications to language teaching. The latter half will consist of a workshop and a performance, in which students will have an opportunity to actually try out Manzai themselves.
The workshop will be held as part of the course: LED102 Principles of Language Learning and Teaching. It is part of a lecture series: “The role of performing arts in second language learning.”
