"A Truly International Person: Towards a Dialogue Connecting Individuality and Diversity"
A general image of International person may be an UN official, a diplomat, or a fluent English speaker. However, an international person is not a special title given to selected people. This symposium will challenge such existing glamorous image of international person and discuss its essence. There are various borders that divide people in contemporary society. The borders are not only physical national borders, but social categories and social norms generated by our consciousness. Inviting Prof. Okio Hino who invented a cancer philosophy therapy where he broke a border of a doctor and a patient and face how we live together, we will discuss the essence of an international person with panelists who do research and practice in the areas of various borders such as disability, gender, credentialism, and Global North-South issues.
