Nestled in the deep woody areas of 153 acres in suburban Tokyo, we are pleased to announce and invite you to the 1st professional seminar in community psychology in Asia at International Christian University (https://www.icu.ac.jp/en/). For over 20 years, the Community Research & Action Group at International Christian University (ICU-CRAG) has taken on a leadership role in promoting the field of community psychology in Japan and East Asia. As an independent research collaborative involving ICU campus colleagues as well as those at other institutions in Japan, ICU-CRAG has established closer working relationships among those colleagues and professionals in Asia while closely coordinating with those in the U.S. and Europe. Unfortunately, however, there have been only a few such opportunities to create a larger or inclusive network of those in community psychology from the established organizations and institutions of higher education in Asia. As part of the outreach activities for the Society for Community Research & Action (SCRA) in the United States, the Seminar should provide opportunities for the community psychologists and graduate students to network with each other and learn about the current work in a friendly environment where everyone feels welcome to share his/her ideas regardless of the background. As such, the Seminar will comprise numerous occasions and events to interact with the participants through interactive plenary talks, ignite sessions, and workshops dotted with "community cafes" on the premises. All are welcome!

The purpose of the Seminar is threefold: (a) to bring together those in Asia, the U.S., the Oceania, Africa, and Europe for the feasibility of establishing collaboration for 2.5 days on ICU campus, thereby charting the future of community psychology in Asia, (b) to collaborate on sharing the research and practice exchanges on human rights, peace and justice, given the changing context in the post-COVID19 world, and (c) to provide opportunities for education and training for community psychology in Asia as part of regional activities of American Psychological Association’s Society for Community Research & Action (SCRA, Div. 27). Therefore, this Seminar is a small-scale global seminar at ICU to bring together community psychologists and students from around the word. Why not join us here in Japan!

The Seminar has been generously supported financially by the Japan International Christian University Foundation (JICUF), the Society for Community Research and Action (SCRA), and ICU’s Peace Research Institute (PRI), and logistically supported by the Japanese Society for Community Psychology (JSCP).
