NEWThe 196rd Asian Forum, "The Great Kanto Earthquake and Wang Yiting"

The Institute of Asian Cultural Studies will hold the 196th Asian Forum, "The Great Kanto Earthquake and Wang Yiting," as below.

Today, there is a bell tower that houses the Youming bell next to the Tokyo Memorial Hall, which enshrines the victims of the Great Kanto Earthquake. This bell was donated by the Chinese Wang Yiting （1867-1938）. Wang was a businessman working as a comprador of Nisshin steamship company, also known as a famous literati. What was Wang's motive for donating the Youming bell to Japan? I would like talk about the support activities that Wang carried out for the Great Kanto Earthquake.
