My Life and the Study of Japan

Historians ask life’s big questions: Who are we, where did we come from, and how did we get here? In his presentation, Peter Nosco, an intellectual and social historian of Edo-period Japan, will try to answer these questions with regard to himself and his nearly half-century-long study of Japan and the Japanese language. He will also try to address how this study of Japan has impacted not just his professional life, but also every other aspect of his adult life.
