Eiko Otake’s Video Lecture on Disaster and Art: “From the Great East Japan Earthquake to the Coronavirus Crisis”

How is it possible for the human body to remember disasters and connect them to the “here and now”? Eiko Otake is a movement-based, interdisciplinary artist living in New York who approaches questions regarding the relationship between disasters and humans, and disasters and art via multiple performances concerned with the 3/11 and its aftermath, the current coronavirus pandemic, the 9/11, the bombing of Hiroshima, among others.
