"An Ambivalent Support. When Opposing Homophobia Strengthen the Heteronormative Order"

Starting from the entire online discussion (i.e. approx. 400 messages), this presentation analyses how participants oppose to homophobia. On the surface, the data are characterized by strong antagonism between the stances that support and the stances that are critical of LGBTQ persons. However, a closer look into the posts expressing a pro-LGBTQ stance shows that there is considerable variation among these posts: they range from an open deconstruction of homophobia to posts whose stance on homophobia is more ambivalent as they draw on ideologies circulating within the heteronormative order.
