Histories as Narratives, Women and Regions ―Towards Women's Local Histories to Come
In Japan, local women's history developed as an active academic field as well as a social practice from the 1980s and 1990s. From the 2000s onward there hasn't been major visible activities, yet, the popularization of words such as "women activities" or "regional revitalization" call for the work of women's local history; that is, to rewrite existing history from a gendered activist perspective, and this task should be continuously re-examined. This event brings together not only experts on women's history but also active members of local communities, and it is an opportunity to think together about the future of women's local histories.
