This symposium brings together activists, scholars, and practitioners to discuss the challenges and possibilities surrounding LGBTIQ+ asylum in Japan. Through a combination of presentations and open dialogue, we aim to explore how legal frameworks, social attitudes, and international solidarity shape the experiences of queer people seeking refuge. The event also highlights new research and advocacy efforts taking place in Japan and beyond.
