The Division of Languages at International Christian University announces a tenure-track faculty position at the assistant or associate professor rank, in its Japanese department. The appointment is to begin on September 1, 2004 or April 1, 2005.

Applicants must be qualified and willing to participate fully in educational and administrative capacities to ICU's college-wide, integrated, academically oriented Japanese Language Programs. Additionally, applicants need to have demonstrated expertise (through teaching experience as well as a record of publication) in the specialized field of Hisory of the Japanese Language.

Doctorate in the field of specialization, Japanese (kokugo) teaching license and native or near-native Japanese competence required. A level of English competence sufficient to permit effective participation in meetings and committees where English is the language of discussion is also strongly desired.  The successful candidate will be expected to display a familiarity with and commitment to the Christian ideals of the university.
