The course of International Internship started in 1996 in the Division of International Studies. In the spring of 1999 the course of Community Service Learning started and the concept of "service learning" (S-L) first appeared in the curriculum of ICU formally. The Service Learning Center (SLC) was established in 2002 to help the students' placement and service-learning activities and to coordinate the programs.
