2010年度から新しいカリキュラムのもとで代数学I, II までで 代数学 III がなくなり、そのかわり、週3時限のコースとなりました。それに伴って教科書も買えました。しかし代数学 III で扱っていたガロア理論がカバーできなくなってしまったため、その部分はなるべく、数学特論 (Topics of Mathematics) でカバーすることにし、代数学 II では体と体の拡大の基本理論のみを扱うことにしました。ガロア理論に興味のあるかたは、代数学 III のホームページも参考にして下さい。また、下記のそれぞれの参考書を見て下さい。

Alhough I write the first edition of this book more than twenty years ago, my goals for it remain the same. I want students to receive a solid introduction to the traditional topics. This is the same textbook used for Algebra I. Quote from the back cover:
This is a high level introduction to abstract algebra which is aimed at readers whose interests lie in mathematics and in the information and physical sciences. In addition to introducing the main concepts of modern algebra, the book contains numerous applications, which are utility and relevance of algebra today.
The importance of proof is stressed and rigorous proofs of almost all results are given. But care has been taken to lead the reader through the proofs by gentle stages. There are nearly 400 problems, of varying degrees of difficulty, to test the reader's skill and progress.

非常に、よく使われている教科書ですが、自習用としては、難しいと思います。予習復習をしながら理解していって下さい。ALGEBRA I III (代数学 I、III)でも使います。授業で全てをカバーするわけではありませんが、これ一冊理解すれば、大学院入試、米国大学院の Comprehensive Examination にも大体十分と思います。
