Message From JDS Prgram Committee

Why do some countries achieve phenomenal economic growth, while others still have difficulties in eradicating poverty? Why do some projects appear successful in sustaining development, while others appear to perform poorly? JDS Fellows, as well as other students of international development, are expected to generate and answer appropriate research questions for their own research projects.

In answering these questions, it is important for them to make careful consideration while analyzing the problems associated with development from the perspectives of a variety of disciplines, including public administration, economics, political science, international relations, sociology, anthropology, and peace and gender studies. ICU, seeking academic excellence in liberal arts education, best provides JDS Fellows with this wide range of perspectives and a deep level of understanding.

At ICU, we see students who wish to serve people and explore new frontiers in sustainable peace and development.
