BIAN, Zuodong

Country of Origin China
Major at ICU Public Policy
Master Thesis The Comparison Research on the Public Utilities Reform and Administrative Regulation in China and Japan
Personal Statement

Hi, I am Bian, Zuodong from China. I am very glad to introduce my new university ICU, the American educations styles, sound natural environment and native English speaker everywhere…… However, only when you studied in ICU, you could experience the special and impressive charm of the ICU.

As of myself, I will make the research of Public Utilities in China and Japan. The ICU courses including politics, administration and macroeconomics, can meet the requirement of my research and supports me greatly.

I will benefit much from the study method learned from my respected tutor, and the study method could be more important to me than his knowledge and expertise in the public utilities field because learning how to think is more valuable than gaining direct knowledge.

Moreover, methods in Japan might not be implemented in China by rote. On the contrary, tools learned from professors in various principles and majors will be more flexible and useful in solving specific problems in China.

I do believe that it will be a unforgettable two-year.

Master Thesis Strengthening the Prosecutorial Arm of the Philippine Government in Curbing Corruption: Learning from Japan’s Laws and Policies
Personal Statement

Knowledge is nothing if it does not redound to the benefit of humankind.

The International Christian University provides a holistic development of its students as it has the perfect environment for learning. It combines nature’s beauty and technology so that students develop not just intellectually and physically but also spiritually and socially. As such, I believe I made the right decision to choose ICU among the numerous universities with JDS Program. I share and support ICU’s principles.

ICU is a bulwark of rights and liberties. No wonder, people of all nations gather, live, and learn together in this community. It is a home that nurtures its students, equip them with knowledge, skills, values and principles, as its offering to humankind.

As long as institutions like ICU stand, there will always be bastions for world peace and unity.

Daping Guo

Country of Origin China
Major at ICU Public Policy
Master Thesis A Comparative Study of the Patentability of Business Methods: United States, European Union, India and China
Personal Statement:
GUO-Daping Hi! friends, my name is Guo Daping, from Beijing, China. Before coming to ICU, I am a public servant working for SIPO, the State Intellectual Property Office, China.

I am so lucky that I could become a JDS Fellow and a student of ICU. ICU, not a big university as we know, is a very famous private university in Japan, with its strong strength and reputation in the liberal social science!

ICU creates such a great international and multicultural study environment! Here are my personal impression on the ICU: there are many famous teachers from Japan and abroad, and many international students from Asia, America and Europe, etc.; the local Japanese students whose English are very good and apparently better than those outside of ICU, are more open-minded and more international; the faculty staffs here are friendly, hard working, and always waiting for offering help to you; the campus is small, quiet, but pleasant and lovely.

As a Chinese student, thanks to Japanese government, JICE and ICU, I can study in this beautiful campus and dive into the Japanese culture and society, sharing with my other international classmates.

To a student from China, a special more significance will be even added to my study here, because that currently there are difficulties and challenges between Japan and China politically, and more exchanges between the people, especially the young people, of both nations are needed.

A recent poll conducted in China shows that nearly 70 percent of surveyees consider the relationship between Japan and China is important. I can't agree with it more! For the long-lasting peace and prosperity of two neighboring nations, or even the whole Asia, we need more exchanges, more trust, more understanding, more cooperation and more friendship!

Studying here at ICU, I, in fact, have already become a participant for the exchanges between the people of two nations. Again, I'd like to say: I feel lucky and appreciate for becoming a JDS Fellows and an ICU student! Anyway, I like ICU, its beautiful and quiet campus, unique multicultural setting, and ICU people!

Personal Statement:
Vivian A. PerdigonStudying at International Christian University through JDS Scholarship was an opportunity for me.  I experienced to mingled with other foreign students, share ideas, and learn more things.  CU is a very good university.  Being an international school, all the facilities especially the library are rich of reference materials that we need and we use in preparations of our final papers.  Our sensei are very kind to impart with us what they know in respective to our subjects. ICU staffs are very accommodating.  The environment is very conducive for learning.

After two years of studies with ICU for my masteral course in public administration, I believe that my personality being a citizen, a civil servant and ambassador will be more developed. With my early months of experience here in ICU and living in Japan, I noticed the different values of cooperation, good governance, hard work, good leadership, etc. Values that must be possess by any employees that are pledge to serve his fellowmen and most of all, his country. This is my chance to show the changes I have when I came here in Japan and when I go back to my country, Philippines.

Uyanga I am grateful to the people of Japan for making this wonderful opportunity available to us! I feel that their expectation of the scholarship recipients is that we maximize its benefits to our countries by thoroughly researching the problems faced, with their causes and consequences, and helping to come up with concrete solutions.

I feel the only way to repay is to commit ourselves to further ensuring their implementation, whatever we do, wherever we are in the future. Moreover, I feel this requires us to be the living embodiment of a vision, a vision to see our countries develop and prosper, both materially and intellectually.
