This forum was held on 9th of October,2010( from 1.00pm to 5.30 pm) at Ichigaya JICA center. It was organized by National Women’s Education Center of Japan. There were two keynote speeches which were presented by H.E.Dr.Ing Kantha Phavi and Proffessor Emeritsu in Sophia university in Tokyo. Dr. Ing had shared her experience from her country. She also explained the long way to go to achieve women’s leadership role in Cambodia. Professor Emeritsu had explained how women’s leadership can affect on the education and their challenges for that. Ms Maki, education specialist in UNICEF East Asia Pacific Region office, shared some innovative ideas through attractive presentation. She used some data from developing Asian countries to emphasize the current situation. She also gave information on education, gender equality and empowerment of women, which were presented in UN MDG summit. Another professor had shown many examples about women’s education and empowerment around the world. At the end of forum JICA trainees also gave some presentation using their countries experience. Panel discussion also very successful.
In this forum I could get some idea about the women’s leadership issues, concepts of education, leadership and women, socialization in gender context, resources for women to attain leadership, gender gaps in Japan and Cambodia.
