UC Summer Sessions
Launched in 2003, the program enables students to participate in the six-week summer session offered at University of California, Berkeley and Los Angeles*. The units earned through the program can be transferred into ICU after conversion procedure. *In 2012, ICU students will not be able to attend the Summer Session at UC Los Angeles due to the time conflict with the ICU academic calendar.

| Eligibility |
Those who have enough English and academic skills to complete the six-week program. Cumulative GPA of 3.00 or above, and TOEFL score of 79 (iBT) or above OR IELTS (Academic) score of 6.0 or above. All applicants, including native English speakers and September students, must submit their valid TOEFL/IELTS score reports. Candidates of the AY2011-2012 Exchange/Study-Abroad Programs and Service Learning Program are not eligible. One cannot apply to the Field Studies in British Culture at the same time. |

- Some courses have discussion classes (DIS) in addition to lectures (LEC). Please be careful and avoid a conflict, when choosing courses.
- ICU students will participate in Session D. Please choose courses, which are offered in "Session Dates: 07/02-08/10/12."
- Courses are the first-come basis, and subject to change.
For All Applicants/Participants
- Participants are required to take courses, which are worth five credits* or above, in UC Berkeley Summer Session D. Most courses are 3-4 units. Students can take a maximum of 10 units per session but this is not recommended even if you native speakers of English. *If you have a U.S. passport, you may take less number of courses.
- For the courses taken by ICU students at other universities while studying abroad which are approved for application towards ICU's graduation requirement, credit will be provided if the grade received is gDh (60 points) or higher. Of the units converted to ICU course equivalents, up to 30 will be recognized towards the degree. Practical training courses, with the exception of physical education exercise courses, will not be recognized for transfer credit. Your grades will not be incorporated into your Cumulative GPA.
- The total amount of credit awarded to a student as transfer credit for study abroad, study at other universities under credit auditor status, etc will not exceed 30 units. If you are planning to participate in the one-year exchange/study abroad programs, the TAC (Tama Academic Consortium) and the EU Consortium, please be careful of this maximum number of credits you can transfer.
- Regarding transfer credit, please refer to the ehandbook and Educational Affairs Group for details of its procedure.
- Practical training courses, with the exception of physical education exercise courses, and ESL (English as Second Language) will not be recognized for transfer credit.
For Students Entered in or after AY2008
- Transferred credits will be counted towards Elective Course requirements.

- Course Fee: 230,000 yen
- Accommodation (three meals per day on weekdays and two meals on weekends): $2,000`$3,000 (in 2011)
- Additionally, you will be responsible for airfare, insurance, student visa-related fees and other misc. costs such as optional excursion fees and your personal expenses.
