UC Summer Sessions

The information session for 2012 finished on January 17, 2012, and the application deadline is January 31st. If you miss the session, please come to the International Educational Exchange office (A-125) to pick up the application materials right away. The most up to date course information can be found on this website. Please note that UC Summer Sessions participants will take the courses in the Session D.

UC Summer Sessions (6 weeks)

Launched in 2003, the program enables students to participate in the six-week summer session offered at University of California, Berkeley and Los Angeles. The units earned through the program can be transferred into ICU after conversion procedure.

NOTE: In 2012, ICU students will not be able to attend the Summer Session at UC Los Angeles due to the time conflict with the ICU academic calendar.

International students and UC students study courses together, ranging from humanities to natural sciences.

Advance your academic progress this summer while enjoying the San Francisco Bay Area. Summer is the only time of year that UC Berkeley opens enrollment to visiting students. Berkeley Summer Sessions boasts a diverse student population combining UC Berkeley students with international students, visitors from other universities, newly admitted students, high school students, and members of the Berkeley community. Take advantage of one of our many offerings and enjoy the Berkeley experience.

Examples of the courses offered at UC Berkeley in 2011 (Offering varies every year):@Peace and Conflict Studies, African American Studies, History of Art, Business, Astronomy, Earth & Planetary Sciences, Education, Geography, Film Studies, Linguistics, History, Native American Studies, Nutritional Sciences & Toxicology, Political Science, Psychology, Public Health, Sociology, South Asian Studies and many more.

A valid TOEFL or IELTS score report is required for application. Native English speakers and September students, some of whom have been exempted from submitting their proof of English proficiency at the time of admission, are still required to turn in the valid TOEFL or IELTS (Academic Module). We will not accept the TOEFL ITP score.
