Application to the UC Summer Sessions

Application for AY2012

A. Application Form for UC Berkeley Summer Session 2012 [3 copies]

  • Use of a pencil is not allowed.
  • ※Application form was distributed at the information session on January 17. If you do not have it, please pick it up at the International Educational Exchange office as soon as possible.

B. Essay [3 copies]

  • About 1,000 words in English.
  • Typed and printed on A4-sized papers.
  • Cover motivation, a list of courses and reasons why you want to take them, how you will make use of the six-week study after completion and so on.

C. English Proficiency Score Report (TOEFL/IELTS) [3 copies]

  • A valid score report of either TOEFL or IELTS (Academic), photocopied on an A4-sized paper.
  • A valid TOEFL or IELTS score report is required for application. Native English speakers and September students, some of whom have been exempted from submitting their proof of English proficiency at the time of admission, are still required to turn in the valid TOEFL or IELTS score report. We will not accept the TOEFL ITP score.
  • We will accept the print-out of the TOEFL or IELTS online score report at the time of application, on the condition that you will submit the examinee's score report as soon as you receive it in the mail.

D. Class Schedule of the Winter Term of 2012[1 copy]

E. Grade report, which includes the Fall Term of 2012

  • You will not need to submit the grade report.

Important Notices

  • Participants will be responsible for their own trips to and from Berkeley and any additional trips before and after the program. A student visa is required, if you are not a U.S. citizen.
  • All participants are required to buy the insurance that ICU specifies. For example, the cost was 8,080 yen for 46 days and 9,430 yen for 53 days in 2011.
  • Once passed the selection process, participants will need to pay for a nonrefundable application fee of 70,000 yen. University of California's refund policy will also apply.
  • Please have your parents' approvals prior to application.
  • You must not miss any deadlines and orientations.
