A. Completed Application Form: 3 copies

Please submit the original and two copies. Be sure to attach original photos to all 3 copies. Application forms will be available at IEEO. (Please be careful about the distribution period)

B.　Personal Statement: 3 copies

Please write an essay (around 1500 words, double-spaced on A4 paper) and present your reasons for application, academic interests, academic and/or cultural goals through the program, study plans at a host institution and future plans after coming back to ICU.

C.　Faculty Letter of Recommendation

All applicants must be interviewed for their study abroad application by his/her academic advisor and then ask the advisor to write a letter of reference to support their application. Be sure to ask your advisor for your interview AT LEAST 1 week before the specified deadline in order to minimize a burden to the advisor.

PLEASE NOTE THAT:

  • Letters should be directly submitted to IEEO from applicants' academic advisors.
  • Applicants for the CIEE programs and UK institutions are required by an assigned institution　to submit another letter of recommendation from a faculty member of his/her major academic field.
  • Applicants for the IES programs may be required to give a letter from a foreign language instructor to IES.

D.　Valid TOEFL or IETLS score reports: 3 copies

ALL applicants MUST submit theirvalid TOEFL or IELTS score report along with other application documents by the specified deadline. Even native speakers of English or those who were exempted from submitting a proof of English proficiency at the admission to ICU are still required to turn in the valid TOEFL or IELTS score report. Students who do not have a valid score report and are thinking of applying for the program 2010-2011 are strongly advised to take TOEFL/IELTS test by the end of August.

  • TOEFL ITP (Institutional Testing Program) scores, including the one taken through ELP, can NOT be accepted.
  • Those who have sent TOEFL or IELTS scores when they applied to ICU are stillrequired to submit　score report again for Exchange/Study abroad application.
  • Applicants for the institutions in UK MUST submit theirIELTS score.
  • Applicants for the institutions in Oceania are encouraged to submit their IELTS score.

E.　Grade Report

IEEO will prepare students'Grade Reports on behalf of the applicants.

F. GRE score (only for Graduate students applying for Univ. of California) : 3 copies

Only for Graduate students applying for Univ. of California.

G. Other documents if required/available : 3 copies

eg.: Certificate of foreign language other than English.
