Interaction of Chinese and Japanese Vocabularies in Modern Times

Rapid increase of Kango has brought a big change in modern Japanese language. We can see the inflow of several Chinese books as the main reason of this matter. Moreover, it is well known that the intellectuals in Meiji era, who faced the western ideas, struggled with but made fully devised translated terms such as Philosophy, Symbol, Science, and Aesthetics. Here, we will introduce the process how those new Kango used in modern Japanese language was reimported to China, went through several resistances, and then finally incorporated in Chinese after 20th century.
