International Christian University's 21st Century Center of Excellence Program came to the end of its 5-year duration in March 2008. On behalf of the program, I would like to express my deepest gratitude to all of the researchers from ICU and from other institutions around the world for their efforts and commitments to our endeavor to establish a center for Comprehensive Peace Studies under the keywords "Peace, Security, and Conviviality (Kyosei)."

The 5-year program left us a great deal of accomplishments. For example, over 40 books and over 100 academic papers presenting findings related to the COE Program have been published to date. I would especially like to emphasize that young researchers supported by the ICU COE Program were involved in a significant number of these publications.

ICU will leverage the accomplishments of the 21st Century COE Program as a base to further develop as an international center of research and education in Comprehensive Peace Studies.
